Frequently asked questions about shipping
Q: Do I need to remove my hard drive for shipment? A: While it is not necessary unless it pertains to your repair, you are perfectly entitled to remove the hard drive. We understand that privacy is a large concern and want to assure you that all employees of Laptop Repair Direct LLC respect this.
Q: When you perform a power jack repair, do I need to send my battery and power supply? A: We do like you to send these components along with repairs for power jack replacement because it allows us to properly test all areas of the power circuit.
Q: If I ship my laptop to you, what should I put it in? A: While we recommended a specific laptop shipping box, you may use the original box it came with as long as the inserts and packing material inside is intact and will provide proper protection during transport.
Q: Should I get insurance for my shipment or does it come with it? A: UPS, FedEx and DHL all insure shipments for $100 unless a higher value is specified. Although we rarely see damaged packages, we highly recommend getting insurance on all shipments. Insure your laptop for replacement cost, not perceived value.
Q: Can I use a shipping service center to ship my laptop, like FedEx Kinko's or The UPS Store? A: Yes, and though these centers may charge a few dollars more they will ensure proper packaging, insurance and safe transport.
Q: How do you quote repair pricing? Does it include shipping? A: All repair pricing is quoted on a per laptop basis. Shipping options and pricing are discussed at the time of contact by the customer, as we offer ground, 2nd day and overnight shipping options and prices vary between each service.
